DFW Illankai Tamil Sangam
Our story
Illankai Tamil Sangam was founded by families who wanted a place to celebrate who we are — together. Through cultural events, language classes, festivals, and quiet acts of mutual support, we've grown into a community that spans generations.
Today we host Pongal, Tamil New Year, Deepavali, and dozens of gatherings each year. We help newcomers settle, raise scholarship funds for students, and keep Tamil language and arts alive in the diaspora.

Our new digital home brings the Sangam to your fingertips — wherever you are, on whatever device you're holding. Whether you've been with us for decades or are just discovering the community, the new site is built to make staying involved simple and welcoming.

We had a wonderful turnout for our Tamil New Year celebration this April. The day featured traditional sadhya, classical performances by our youth, and blessings from our board.

It is my great honor to welcome you to our new digital home. For decades, our Sangam has been a place where families gather, traditions are passed on, and our beautiful Tamil heritage finds a living voice here in North Texas. This website is one more bridge — connecting us across distance, generations, and busy schedules.
Whether you are reading this as a long-time member or someone discovering us for the first time, please know: you belong here. Our doors, both physical and digital, are open to every family who shares in our language, our culture, and our community spirit.
In the coming year, we will continue to grow our cultural programs, deepen our service to the community, and create more opportunities for our children to connect with their roots. None of this is possible without you — your time, your gifts, your families, and your belief in what we are building together.
